It’s February, are you feeling the love? We're not talking about Valentine's Day where you shower your honey with presents and kisses, we're talking about self-love!
Do you love yourself, as you are right now? If you hesitated for even a second, you need to realize how amazing you are! We see you for the amazing person you are right now, right this moment. You don't need to lose weight or put on make up to feel beautiful or comfortable in your skin, we want you to feel that way always, because that's how we see you. The best way to be happy is to feel happy about YOU, and then that happiness will radiate out to all areas of your life!
Have you ever been around a genuinely happy person? You just want to hang out with them all the time, right? They make you feel better about you and it just feels like a breath of fresh air. Guess what? You can be that person for someone else! But the way to do it is to LOVE YOURSELF!
So what does self-love mean? It means making yourself a priority. It is making room in your life, your schedule for you. You are really important- yes YOU are! So why wouldn’t you schedule yourself time to take care of yourself? Some confuse making yourself a priority with being selfish, but that’s not what self-love really is. Here’s a fun exercise- let’s make a list. Take out a piece of paper or the notes app in your phone and write down things that you like about yourself. It doesn’t mean that you have to be perfect or the best in those areas, just things that you like about yourself. It can even be super simple things like you love the way that your hair holds curls and doing your hair that way makes you feel really good. Or you are a really good cook. Or you are a really good listener which makes you a really good friend. Write down as many things as you can, and come back to this list often. Maybe put the list up on your mirror. Add to the list as more things come to mind. Recognize all of the talents and gifts that you have, and feel your confidence and love for yourself grow. You may not know this yet, but you have tremendous value that you provide to everyone in your life.
