The Story of Love Water Org
As many of you know, this month we have partnered with Love Water Org for our Summer Solemate Fun Run. With each run pack purchased we donate a portion of the proceeds to support this incredible company whose mission is to bring clean water to those in need. While there are several organizations with similar purposes, the story of Love Water Org and its closeness to home is the reason we keep going back to share in its charitable work.
Eight years ago, Love Water Org founder, Jake Sherley, found himself in Zambia, Africa where his life was turned upside down. While serving among those he had been sending funding to, Jake witnessed a community filled with love, gratitude, and joy. Despite having nothing, the people of Zambia were happy for each and every day they were given. Humbled and concerned, Jake decided he wanted to make a difference in the lives of those who had changed his.
Since its inception, Love Water Org has provided over 23,500 people access to clean water. The organization has also given water sources to 2 orphanages, 6 schools, 1 health clinic, 2 community churches, and has provided 270 filtration systems to families in need.
With amazing support from Flex it Pink Babes like you, Love Water Org continues to improve the lives of those in the developing world. Check out Jake’s Youtube Video to us, where he describes the tap we were actually able to contribute through our fundraising last year--https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfXLTHeIZQ4&feature=youtu.be.
But beyond tangible improvements, Love Water Org’s commitment to providing clean water also improves overall health, boosts local economies, empowers women, and gives kids more time at school.
Amazing right? While Jake and his organization have already done so much to restore health and create opportunity, 1 in 9 people still lack access to an improved water source. With nearly 3.4 million people dying each year from preventable waterborne illnesses, continuing to support Love Water Org is a top priority for us. One run pack might not seem like a lot, but in the words of Jake, “ When all of us do a little bit, we can do a lot”.
