4th of July 5k

4th of July 5k

new pics 253 First of all, I hope you all had a safe and fun 4th of July. We sure did. We got a huge group of girls together ( all mommas) to run the local 5k sporting our Flex It Pink 'Girl on Fire' tanks. What a huge turn out it was. Not only was this the biggest run for our town ever (with over 200 runners) but us, FiP, was one of the sponsors for the event. Our group was full of strong and determined women. Some it was their first time running a 5k, others it was all about trying to beat previous records, some it was just for fun and to dress up all festive. It was a nice new course so that made it exciting and it was very much needed because we all were over the same one they were doing over and over and over. But man oh man it was a HOT one. You'd think that running at 8 in the morning would have its advantages, but it doesn't. The heat was brutal. So needless to say, seeing that finish line from a distance was like heaven. Almost all the runners sprinted to the end, giving it all they had to just be out of the heat and get some water. But everyone finished, most dripping sweat, panting heavily, and collapsing on the grass (which I did). The "Girl on Fire' tank was, indeed, the perfect fit for this run. It was hot but us girls were on fire running our hearts out on this 4th of July. I also wore a tutu that I had made the night before (not to shabby for my very first time) I figured why not have a little fun with it =) Both Elisha and I beat our previous record, hers by about 40 sec and mine was a measly 4 seconds, but hey I still beat it right?!? We cheered on all our fellow FiP mommas as they crossed that finish line. Most of them beat their previous records and some even placed in their age groups. Everyone did fantastic especially in that heat. phew! makes me hot thinking about it again LOL. Ill have to say this was one of the best local races this town has seen and experienced and what better way then to run on the land of the free!!!!!!!! So we sponsored the prizes for the winners. First place in all age groups got a FiP shirt/tank, and 2nd and 3rd got FiP bracelets. We also gave a 'Girl on fire' tank to the overall female winner and a gift card to the overall male. We had our banner displayed in view at the finish line.  It was nice to be able to have FiP apart of something that we love and enjoy. That's what we are all about supporting all on their fitness journeys. So what better way then sponsoring a local 5k right? We hope to be able to sponsor more events in the future.  Ill post some pics from our event so you can see how much fun we had: FiP shirts 143</a elisha 001 FiP shirts 100 FiP shirts 157 FiP shirts 116new pics 223
